Postdoctoral Researchers
Young Do Kwon
Young Do received his B.Sc. in Applied Chemical Engineering from KOREATECH, Korea in 2014. Later received his M.Sc. in Medical Sciences from Jeonbuk National University, Korea in 2016 under the supervision of Dr. Hee-Kwon Kim. He joined the Kürti group in the Fall of 2020 and obtained his PhD in the summer of 2025. Young do is currently working on alkene difunctionalization method development.
Mats Georg
Mats received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the same institution in 2025 under the supervision of Prof. Göttlich, developing new alkylating agents and cisplatin analogues. Mats joined the Kürti group in Fall 2025 and has since been working on novel aminating agents and N–N bond formations.
Graduate Students
Charlotte Randolph
Charlotte received her B.Sc. in Chemistry from University of Utah in 2022. She joined the Kürti group in the Fall of 2022 and is currently working on new pericyclic rearrangement reactions.
Danny Graeff
Danny received his B.Sc. in Chemistry from Baylor University in 2022. He joined the Kürti group in the Fall of 2022 and is currently working on new dichloroketene reactions.
Yiannakis Lysandrou
Yiannakis received his B.S. in Chemistry from Marshall University in 2021. He later joined David Sarlah’s lab at UIUC to work on natural product total synthesis and followed him to Rice University. Yiannakis has since joined the Kürti lab where he now works on heterocycle method development.
Stephen Phillips
Stephen Phillips earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Baylor University in 2025. He joined the Kürti group in the fall of 2025 and is currently working on novel N-arylation methods.
